ENT · Hearing Assessment (Audiometry, Tuning Fork Tests, ABR)

On Rinne's test with a 512 Hz tuning fork, BC > AC is noted on the right ear. Weber's test lateralises to the right. The most likely diagnosis is:

  • A Right sensorineural hearing loss
  • B Left conductive hearing loss
  • C Right conductive hearing loss
  • D Bilateral sensorineural hearing loss
Correct answer: C. Right conductive hearing loss

Explanation

A negative Rinne (BC > AC) indicates conductive hearing loss in that ear. Weber lateralises to the worse-hearing (conductive loss) ear because bone conduction is better perceived in a blocked ear. Both findings together localise the conductive loss to the right ear. If it were sensorineural, Weber would lateralise to the better ear.
